Geneva Shaunette, a two-term Telluride Town Council member, is excited to share her candidacy for San Miguel County Commissioner, District 1. With over 14 years immersed in Telluride's vibrant community, she has worked across various sectors, including bars, restaurants, Telluride Academy, and managing a cannabis dispensary. Currently, she manages a special event production company and a shared-use commercial kitchen business.
Her deep-rooted connection with the local workforce and comprehensive understanding of the regional economy set her apart.
During her six-plus years on the Town Council, she has demonstrated effectiveness in governance by introducing multiple revenue streams to create the necessary funding to build affordable housing within the region. She has also worked on creating accountability and structure within the management of and marketing for the regional economy. Additionally, she has worked to enhance and systemize the Town's communication with the public to ensure that all residents can be informed and participating citizens.
Committed to representing the interests of the local workforce, she has fostered robust relationships with elected officials and staff across municipalities, as well as the region’s businesses and non-profit partners. This familiarity positions her to build collaborative processes and bonds amongst the region's largest organizations to effectively address the complex and costly challenges facing the county.
